For over a year, the surgery has been using Patient Partner, enabling patients to easily book, check, and cancel appointments by telephone.

Given the benefits, we have decided that we will be incrementally working towards this system as the primary method to book appointments including same-day routine appointments between 8.00 am & 10.00 am, and reducing the queue capacity of our existing telephone system.

To use this service you can call 01446 500 578. If the system advises you there are no appointments available, then this means that all routine appointments have been taken for the day and there are no more appointments available.

What if it’s an emergency?

We have a system in place for REAL GP Medical Emergencies, for example, people who have Cancer and palliative care, very acutely unwell children under 16 years & elderly frail patients. Unfortunately, we still have a minority of patients abusing this service for minor medical concerns or medical issues that are ongoing and could wait until the next day. This is being closely monitored.

When the practice has reached capacity and there are no more routine on-the-day appointments available, patients will need to call the following day when more appointment capacity is available. We need patients to help us by only using the GP Medical Emergencies service appropriately.

For life-threatening emergencies, you should call 999, or for health information and advice call NHS 111 Wales, they also provide a dedicated Urgent Mental Health support service to put you in contact with a mental health worker in the area.
