Junior Doctors employed by the NHS in Wales will be taking strike action this week. This is the 2nd action confirmed action set for a continuous 72-hour period between 7 am Wednesday 21st February 2024 and 7 am Saturday 24th February 2024.

A 3rd period of Strike Action has also been confirmed for a 96-hour continuous period between 7 am Monday 25th March 2024 and 7 am Friday 29th March (Good Friday, Public Bank Holiday).

West Quay Medical Centre GP registrars (trainee DRs), along with other junior doctors employed by the NHS, are taking industrial action over a real-term pay cut of more than 29.6% since 2008/09.

Our GP Registrars will not be in practice during the dates highlighted above and we will therefore have fewer urgent appointments and be mindful of likely increased demand to support patients that might otherwise be seen in the hospital setting.

This action by all junior doctors has the support of the whole BMA Cymru Wales and the healthcare profession. They are your future GPs and as current NHS employees, have the right to strike.

Please only contact us if your concern is urgent and for minor issues and advice contact NHS 111 Wales alternatively please seek advice & support from https://111.wales.nhs.uk. You can also visit your local Community Pharmacy for advice and free medication for many minor illnesses.
